Set off on a scenic cruise through the Bay of Islands in search of dolphins, whales, seals, birdlife and other marine wildlife. As one of only two operators licensed by the Department of Conservation to view marine mammals, our experienced crew will help you discover the incredible wildlife that calls these waters home.
Your cruise includes a 1.5-hour stop at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, where you'll learn about the region's unique marine sanctuary and the conservation work of Project Island Song to restore native ecosystems and birdlife.
You will also have time to explore the island at the beachfront, swimming and walk the established tracks and spot reintroduced native wildlife including tīeke (North Island saddleback), toutouwai (North Island robin), pāteke (brown teal), Wētāpunga (giant wētā) and more.
This was a fantastic experience and the crew of the Dolphin Explorer were fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed this day and would do it again.
