Outstanding experience. Doubtful Sound is amazing. The crew really made the trip special. I really appreciate that the afternoon water activity had an alternate yet complimentary activity for those who did not feel comfortable paddling a single kayak in 1200 feet of ice cold water. Certainly one of the best activities on New Zealand's South Island.

We had an amazing time on the cruise from start to finish. Every person we met as part of the NZ team where friendly, helpful and informative. The cruise was perfectly guided. The food was excellent. The boat was clean and provided with everything needed gor a relaxed but exciting trip. A big thank you for aiding this unforgettable and magical experience

What you can expect

Embark on the ultimate Doubtful Sound overnight cruise aboard the Wanderer, a journey through the 'Sound of Silence' that promises lifelong memories. Your adventure begins with a boat trip across Lake Manapouri, followed by a scenic coach ride over Wilmot Pass through rainforest to Deep Cove, where the Wanderer awaits. The vessel features spacious viewing decks, dining saloons with licensed bars and observation lounges. With a maximum of 36 passengers, it offers an intimate overnight experience.

Cruise through spectacular landscapes while knowledgeable nature guides share insights into local wildlife, including dolphins, and rare penguins. Anchor in a sheltered cove to explore the shoreline by kayak or tender craft, or enjoy a refreshing swim.

In the evening, enjoy a three-course plated dinner, relax with fellow travellers and, if skies are clear, stargaze from the upper deck. Wake to a hearty breakfast before completing your Doubtful Sound boat trip and returning to Manapouri.

Wonderful overnight cruise. Was highlight of our trip. So scenic and peaceful. One with nature. Dinner was not good though. Only downside is no internet service for 24+ hrs. on ship, bus, nor ferry. And RealNZ the ship operator does not provide internet at their check in terminals either.
