What you can expect
Milford Sound is the jewel of New Zealand and what better way to experience it than a scenic flight, and two-hours to explore the area on a self-guided walk. On the Milford Sound Fly, Explore, Fly tour with Glenorchy Air, you will begin with a scenic flight from Queenstown airport over the Wakatipu Basin and out to Milford Sound. Your pilot will smoothly navigate you into the mouth of the fiord for awe inspiring views of mountains, waterfalls and the glistening ocean beneath you. The views are simply stunning from this vantage point.
Once you land at Milford Sound Airport, nestled at the base of the iconic Mitre Peak, you will have two hours to explore the stunning surroundings. Wander through the serene beech forest and stroll along the sandy shores on the Foreshore Loop Track for unparalleled views of Mitre Peak. Climb the stairs to the Lookout Track for a unique perspective of Milford Sound framed by lush native bush or relax in the cafe. For wildlife lovers keep an eye out for the locals, including a variety of bird life.
If all that wasn't enough adventure for you, you then get to enjoy another scenic flight back to Queenstown, this time taking in the Sutherland Falls as well as more mountains, glaciers, lakes and forests before landing back in Queenstown.

- Infants (0-2yrs or under 15kgs) travel free of charge
- All passengers have a window seat in the planes - great photo opportunities
- If your flight is cancelled due to bad weather you can reschedule or contact us for a full refund
- If you weigh 140kg (310lbs) or more, please visit our office before your flight. This allows us to verify that the aircraft seatbelts will fit comfortably for your safety and comfort during the flight. Generally, we have found that individuals around 140kg meet the requirements in most cases.
- If you cannot visit us in person, please measure the seatbelt length across your lap while seated, from your right hip to your left hip. The estimated length is 120cm, similar to standard aircraft seatbelts. If you believe your measurements exceed this length, please inform us.

Fantastic way to view the trip from above, the glaciers and perched lakes and snow topped mountains and then landing into Milford Sound is just magical. Was perfect weather for the cruise and flight.
