An amazing experience all around. This was our #1 or #2 highlight for our entire New Zealand trip!

What you can expect

The world’s Most Famous Nevis Swing. Ditch the ordinary and launch into the extraordinary on the world’s most famous swing. The Nevis Swing hurls you into a 70-metre drop and 300-metre arc, high above the Nevis River — solo or tandem, forwards, backwards, upside down, or any way you dare. You’re not in control of the drop – that’s part of the magic.

Whether you choose a countdown or a surprise release, the second you leave the platform, it’s pure, unfiltered freedom. This isn’t just for thrill-seekers – it’s for anyone ready to challenge themselves, rewrite their story, and scream from the sky. Located at the remote Nevis Playground and accessible only by 4WD shuttle from Queenstown, the Nevis Swing offers an epic setting, pro crew support, and a high-stakes environment that makes you feel like part of something massive. Includes: Photo & Video package, and mandatory return transport from Queenstown.

Location

What you need to know

  • Return transport from the Queenstown Bungy Centre to the Nevis Playground, 40 minutes from the centre of Queenstown
  • The Nevis Swing! (solo or tandem)
  • Photo and video package included
  • Expect a 4 hour return trip, some trip lengths may vary
  • Regular departures from 8:40am - 2:40pm
  • Departs from inside the Station building located on the corner of Shotover & Camp Streets, central Queenstown
  • Operates daily all year
  • Can I do the Nevis Swing in tandem with someone else? Yes! The Nevis Swing is one of the biggest swings in the world and can absolutely be done as a tandem. Simply book for two people, and on the day let the jumpmaster know you'd like to swing together. Just make sure your combined weight is under 220kg.
  • Is the Nevis Swing the biggest swing in the world? Yes – the Nevis Swing is one of the biggest swings in the world! Located high above the Nevis Valley in Queenstown, it launches you in a 300-metre arc, making it an unforgettable adrenaline experience.
  • What is the maximum and minimum weight for the Nevis Swing? The minimum weight to ride the Nevis Swing is 35kg, and the maximum combined weight for tandem swings is 220kg. The maximum weight for a solo rider on the Nevis Swing is 160kg.
  • Can three people swing at once on the Nevis Swing? No, the Nevis Swing only allows for single or tandem swings. There are only two harness points, so a triple swing isn’t possible at this site. However the Kawarau Swing (located at the Kawarau Bungy Centre) can take a triple Swing.
  • How long does the Nevis Swing experience take? The full trip from Queenstown return takes up to 4 hours. The actual Nevis Swing ride lasts just a few minutes, but you'll enjoy a 300-metre arc across the canyon.
  • Is there an upper age limit for the Nevis Swing? There is no upper age limit. We've had active participants in their 60s and beyond. As long as you meet the weight requirements and are physically fit to swing, you're good to go!
  • Does the Nevis Swing operate in the rain? Yes, the swing still operates in light to moderate rain. It will only be cancelled in high winds or unsafe conditions. If your trip is cancelled, you can reschedule or get a full refund.
  • Can I bring spectators to the Nevis Swing? Yes! Spectators can join for $50 per person, which includes transport from Queenstown and access to the swing platform
  • Is there parking at the Nevis Swing? The Nevis Swing is located on private land, and self-driving is not permitted. Transport is included from central Queenstown. If travelling by campervan, we recommend parking at Man Street Carpark or driving to the Kawarau Bungy Centre for collection from there. Please call AJ Hackett Bungy to arrange this if you so wish.
  • Cameras: If you wish to take a camera out to the swing pod, or you wish to swing with a camera attached to you, it needs to be safely secured to your person to ensure it cannot be dropped
  • Swinging with a camera is entirely at your own risk and only at the discretion of the swing crew. The waiver you sign when checking in fully indemnifies AJHB of any loss or injury associated with you swinging with your camera
  • The Nevis Swing site is located on private land, you are not allowed to drive there yourself. The only option is to take the AJ Hackett Bungy Bus from the centre of Queenstown. Trust us, its much more exciting to take the 4WD bus along the narrow gravel track anyway
  • We recommend all customers are well rested, hydrated and have recently eaten before commencing their activity.
  • Minimum age is 13 years with a minimum weight of 35kg and max 160kg (solo) and 220kg (tandem)
  • Please wear covered footwear
  • Please dress to the weather conditions
  • Children 14 years & under must have written consent from a parent or guardian
  • Spectators can go out to the Nevis site for a fee of $50. This allows access to the jump site and if you wish decide to go ahead & jump when you are out there the $50 goes towards the cost of your jump. Children under 10 year old can spectate for free. Call AJ Hackett Bungy NZ to book this directly.
