What you can expect
Short on time but still want to experience the best of Queenstown’s wine country? The Half Day Bike the Wineries Ride is the perfect afternoon adventure. Enjoy a relaxed ride through the stunning Gibbston Valley, visit award-winning cellar doors, and take in the views all without needing a full-day commitment.
Please note: From 1st May 2026 onwards, we will be shuttling you to The Church Cellar Door in the heart of the Gibbston Valley to start the ride, replacing our previous Arrow Junction start location, means you are right in the wineries, so more time to explore them!

What you need to know
- Return transfers from central Queenstown
- Mountain bike
- Safety helmet
- Map of trail
- Time to visit 2 or 3 wineries
- Approx 12 - 17km of riding
- Allow 5 hours
- 11:30am
- Departs from the Around the Basin shop at Shop 4, 3 Searle Lane, central Queenstown
- Operates daily all year
- Child (5-14yrs) & infant (0-4yrs) rates apply
- Children must be a minimum of 140cm tall to ride the smallest e-bike option
- Infant trailers, 16" bikes and tag along half bikes available. Please specify your preference in the "additional information" field if booking an infant option
- Please note wine tastings are not included, you will need to purchase your own tastings on the day. The average cost is around $20 per winery (some tastings are free!)
- Lunch is not included so bring with you a picnic lunch or money to purchase lunch at one of the wineries
- Bring with you comfortable footwear, suitable clothing (ideally shorts, riding pants or tights), a rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, camera & spending money
- If you purchase a bottle of wine along the way, Around the Basin will pick it up from the winery for you
