Unwind in the historic Pavilion Pools at Polynesian Spa in Rotorua, an adults-only area designed for relaxation and rejuvenation. With a selection of eight hot pools, this unique experience offers a tranquil setting for those seeking the benefits of geothermal mineral waters.
The Pavilion Pools offer a connection to Rotorua’s rich history, featuring the iconic Priest Spring source and a 1.3 metre deep alkaline exercise pool, which originally served as a women’s-only bathing area dating back to the 1800s. Today, the Pavilion Pools are reserved for guests 12 years and older, providing a peaceful retreat with access to mineral-rich waters and a lakeside foot reflexology walk.
The Pavilion Pools feature both acidic and alkaline mineral waters, sourced from the Priest Spring and Rachel Spring. Seven pools are 0.7 metres deep, including three acidic mineral pools (39°C - 41°C) and four alkaline mineral pools (38°C - 40°C). An additional 1.3 metre deep stand-up alkaline pool allows for gentle movement, promoting relaxation and circulation. Acidic water is known for soothing tired muscles, while the alkaline water helps to nourish and soften the skin.
For an extra touch of wellness, take a stroll along the reflexology walk, designed to stimulate pressure points in your feet and encourage energy flow throughout your body. The Pavilion Pools also include a spacious changing area with private cubicles and secure storage options.
Located within Polynesian Spa, this premium Rotorua hot pools experience is ideal for those looking for a peaceful escape with views over Lake Rotorua. Recommended soaking time is up to two hours.

- Operates daily all year
- Opening hours are 9am - 11pm daily
- Suitable for ages 12 years & over only
- Please bring swimwear & a towel (also available to hire on site for an additional cost)
- Polynesian Spa is a cashless - please bring your card for any additional purchases on the day
- Secure lockers available for a small additional cost
- Please shower before entering the pools
- Mineral water can tarnish jewellery, we recommend removing jewellery before entering the pools
- Spacious changing rooms & showers available
- Please note, no food or drink is permitted in the pools (licensed cafe available on-site)
- For direct pool bookings (public or private), you can reschedule your booking up to three months ahead if you let us know at least 12 hours before your scheduled time
- We do not provide refunds, and changes requested with less than 12 hours’ notice are non-refundable and non-transferable
- For Retreat Day Spa therapies, a minimum of 12 hours’ notice is required to cancel or change a booking for a full refund
- Cancellations or changes with less than 12 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
