Ride the Sky Waka gondola to New Zealand’s highest eatery, Knoll Ridge Chalet, enjoying epic views on the way. Take in the incredible beauty of Mt Ruapehu and the Central Plateau with a scenic journey on New Zealand’s highest and most impressive lift experience. Your adventure begins at 1,630 metres, where you’ll hop into one of 48 spacious glass cabins (or upgrade to a premium cabin for next‑level views). From there, enjoy a smooth 12‑minute ride climbing 390 metres over 1.8km, gliding above volcanic terrain and soaking up sweeping alpine vistas.
At 2,020 metres, you’ll arrive at Knoll Ridge Chalet, the perfect spot to refuel with plenty of food and drink options. Settle in, snap a few photos and take in the unforgettable outlook across the maunga (mountain) and the Central Plateau. Whether you’re chasing family fun, an easy sightseeing escape or simply a great day out, Sky Waka delivers breathtaking views with zero fuss.

- The Sky Waka gondola is set to run 10am-4pm each day, subject to weather conditions.
- This experience is 12 minutes in duration.
- This experience takes place at the top of Bruce Road, Whakapapa, Mt Ruapehu, 3951.
- Please collect your pass when you arrive at the experience provider's ticket office, based at the bottom of the Sky Waka gondola
- One ticket is required per person
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at the time of booking.
- Upon completion of the purchase, please print the voucher and present it on the day of the experience.
