What you can expect

The Amazing Aspiring helicopter flight is a one hour scenic adventure showcasing the best of Lake Wanaka and Mt Aspiring National Park. Lifting off from Wanaka, your helicopter tracks out over the lake, with clear views of islands such as Mou Waho and the steep slopes that drop straight to the shoreline. This is a quick way to gain height and see how the lake, rivers and mountains connect.

Heading towards Mt Aspiring National Park, the landscape changes to rugged peaks, hanging valleys and glaciers. You will see ice fields, blue crevasses and waterfalls spilling from high cliffs into native forest below. Mt Aspiring rises above the surrounding ranges, and on clear days you can appreciate its distinctive pyramid summit from the air.

An alpine landing at Albert Burn Saddle or a nearby glacier gives you time to enjoy the views and take photos in every direction. On the return leg, the helicopter follows the Matukituki River valley, with views of Glendhu Bay, Mount Roy and the Wanaka township.
