What you can expect
Sweep over three of New Zealand's great glaciers on a 45 minute helicopter flight, tracing the frozen rivers of Franz Josef and Fox before crossing the Main Divide to the Tasman, the largest glacier in the country. From your seat beside an experienced pilot, watch the ice carve its way down the mountains and give way to lush rainforest far below, with peak after peak opening up through the window.
Around the halfway mark, weather permitting, the helicopter touches down for a 10 minute alpine snow landing at a spot you could not reach any other way. Step out onto pristine snow, breathe in the sharp mountain air and take in the peaks stacked to the horizon. It is the kind of place that makes you stop and just look. Dress warmly for the snow landing, even in summer, because the temperature drops fast once you step onto the ice. Then climb back aboard for the flight home, camera full.

- This experience departs from Glacier Country Helicopters, 10 Main Road, Franz Josef, Waiau 7886 (opposite the Police Station, look for the blue flags).

- Comfort Seats (passengers 120KG and over when weighed at check-in will be required to purchase a Comfort Seat — these are half the RRP of your flight).
- Front Seat Request (Requests must be made 24hrs in advance & are only confirmed at check in)
- The snow landing is season and weather-dependent
- Minimum of three and a maximum of six participants
- In extreme weather conditions the tour may be cancelled if safety is a concern, you will be contacted by the provider and rescheduled
- Please contact the provider if you have people wanting to watch the helicopter take off, this can often be arranged
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
