Climb 192 metres up the outside of Auckland's Sky Tower in just over 60 seconds, then brace for a controlled high speed descent back to the ground. Billed as the world's highest lift and descent adventure, from the moment you clear the observation decks the whole city opens up beneath your feet. Look out across the Waitematā Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and the volcanic cone of Rangitoto rising from the water before gravity takes over and you drop smoothly to a soft landing.
You can ride solo or grab a mate and go tandem, and a trained crew handles the safety briefing and gear so you can focus on the view and the rush. Your Sky Tower admission covers all three observation decks, so before or after the ride you can wander the glass floor and take in the city from the top. A photo and video package captures the whole thing. Locals will tell you to book a clear day and time your ride for late afternoon, when the light over the harbour is at its best.
