What you can expect
The First Timer Skiing and Snowboarding Package at Cardrona ski field is designed for those who have absolutely no experience of skiing or snowboarding. Cardrona is the perfect ski field for learning in Queenstown or Wanaka, with high quality natural snow, less crowds and a variety of both beginner and intermediate ski slopes. The skiing and snowboarding season at Cardrona ski field begins in early June and runs until mid October (snowfall and weather conditions permitting).

Gain an excellent introduction to skiing and snowboarding while participating in full day group lessons with the First Timer Package at Cardrona. We recommend 2-3 days of group lessons to really get to grips with your chosen sport. The First Timer Package includes your relevant lift pass, ski/snowboard & boot rental, clothing and accessories, and optional return transport from Queenstown and Wanaka. You can also make the most of the exceptional facilities at Cardrona, including cafes and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the skiing and snowboarding atmosphere. - What does day 2 include in a Cardrona beginner ski package? On day 2 of a Cardrona beginner ski package, you can continue with another group lesson to build confidence and improve your skills. Alternatively, if you feel ready, you can choose to ski independently with a lift pass and equipment hire.
- Do I need to pre-book Cardrona ski packages in advance? Yes, it is highly recommended to pre-book Cardrona ski packages, especially during peak winter months and school holidays. Lessons, rentals, and lift passes can sell out in advance.
- What is included in a Cardrona ski package? Cardrona ski packages typically include lift passes, equipment hire, and group lessons. You can also add on clothing and accessories hire.
- Can adults and children be in the same ski lesson group at Cardrona? Group lessons at Cardrona are organised by age and ability level, so adults and children are usually placed in separate groups. Private lessons are available if you would like to stay together.
- Is there an option to add transport? Yes, you can add transport to your Cardrona ski package, please contact us for more details

- 2 or 3 day packages must be used on consecutive days
- This package can only be used at Cardrona Alpine Resort
- Allow at least 1 hour to be fitted with your rental equipment before your first lesson
- Rental equipment can be picked up from the Cardrona stores in Queenstown, Wanaka, or at the ski field
- You must keep your rental gear for the entirety of the rental period, or you may store it with the on-mountain Ski Concierge service overnight. Gear can only be returned at the end of the rental period.
- Ski lessons are from 5 years & over, snowboard lessons from 7 years & over
- Return bus transport departs Cardrona at 4:15pm
- Gloves are not included in the clothing & accessories bundle - available to purchase on site
- Lunch is not included - please bring a picnic lunch or purchase lunch on site

This was a great package for us, being the first time on the snow. The instructions were clear and the staff are all incredibly helpful. Cardrona is a fantastic place to learn how to ski, and I would go back there to continue learning. Highly recommended for anyone who is new to skiing!
