Stewart Island is a stand alone land mass found right off the southernmost tip of the South Island. A short ferry ride across the famous Foveaux Strait from a small township called Bluff will get you there in approximately 1 hour (just a 37km ferry ride from Bluff).

If you are into the great outdoors, nature, wildlife and fishing there is no better place. Sightseeing trips depart daily, including Stewart Island sightseeing tours and Ulva Island trips. If you are lucky you may see the famous New Zealand Kiwi, or come across other wildlife that calls this part of New Zealand home, including blue penguins.

Accommodation ranges from private houses, B&B’s to modest motels. If you are at all into deep-sea fishing this is the place, jump aboard a charter boat and head out for a great day catching blue cod, which is filleted and shared out amongst the people on board at the end of the day. Salmon, crayfish and paua can also be caught here.
