Lifting off from the lakeside base, you'll soar above the Hidden Lakes and rugged alpine terrain before touching down beside a remote mountain tarn, surrounded by towering peaks and sweeping wilderness views.
From here, the journey continues across the dramatic Kepler Mountains to Luxmore Hut, where your hike begins. Choose between two spectacular tracks winding through native beech forest and alpine landscapes on the descent to Lake Te Anau. Opt for the half-day experience with a three-hour walk, or take on the full-day adventure via Luxmore Summit for panoramic views across Fiordland's mountains, lakes and valleys.
After exploring one of New Zealand's most iconic backcountry regions on foot, sit back and soak up the scenery on a relaxing boat cruise back to Te Anau, the perfect finale to an extraordinary Fiordland experience.

- Hike option 1: Luxmore Hut to Brod Bay
- Follow a well-formed downhill track through native beech forest to Brod Bay on the shores of Lake Te Anau
- Duration: Two and a half to three hours
- Hike option 2: Luxmore Hut to Luxmore Summit to Brod Bay
- Highly recommended for the incredible panoramic views from Luxmore Summit before descending to the shores of Lake Te Anau
- Duration: Five to six hours, including the additional Summit Track
- This is a half- or full-day experience depending on the hike selected
- Scenic helicopter flight is 25 minutes in duration
- Hike is approximately three or six hours in duration
- Boat trip back to town centre is 10 minutes

- Insect repellent and sun lotion
- Good footwear appropriate for hiking

- A packed lunch, water and any snacks needed
- Good layers of clothing
- During the Great Walks season, landings at Luxmore Hut are only permitted between 10am and 3pm
- Prices are based on shared flights
- The number of passengers and weight will determine the most suitable aircraft
- Minimum of two participants per flight
- The pilots make a weather call each morning; if adverse weather is expected, affected passengers will generally be contacted the day before to discuss available options
- Full names and weights of all passengers before boarding the aircraft are required
- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no-shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
