What you can expect
Step inside Aranui Cave, the smallest and most delicate of Waitomo’s three main caves, and discover a hidden underground world rich in natural beauty. Guided along easy boardwalks, you'll explore quiet chambers that are home to native cave weta and some of the cave system’s most intricate limestone formations, revealing new details at every turn.
Deeper inside, lofty chambers showcase an extraordinary display of stalactites, stalagmites and flowstones in delicate shades of white, pink and brown. Back above ground, a gentle walk through native bush offers an introduction to New Zealand’s unique flora, completing an unforgettable hour spent uncovering one of Waitomo’s lesser-known natural treasures.

- Friendly and knowledgeable guide
- Please check in at least 30 minutes prior to your tour departure time
- Tours run daily from 10am, with the last tour at 2.30pm
- Please allow an hour for this experience.
- This experience takes place at 39 Waitomo Village Road, Waitomo Caves 3977.
- Comfortable walking shoes
- A warm jacket
- Raincoat or umbrella (if raining)
- Participants must make their own way to the Waitomo Caves
- Not suitable for visitors with mobility aids
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals may result in you forfeiting your experience
