There are several guided tours available, where the Zealandia nature guides share their knowledge of these unique animals and New Zealand’s ecological history.
New Zealand is famous for its rich biodiversity and dedication to conservation. At Zealandia Wellington, all the wildlife is living wild and you can see this for yourself with the help of knowledgeable guides. Based on the outskirts of Wellington city, you will be walking through beautiful scenery during your Zealandia tour. Listen out for birdsong, natural habitats and, of course, some of New Zealand’s native wildlife.
Explore Wellington’s Zealandia Wildlife Sanctuary by day on a 2 hour guided tour. Join expert guides on an informative walk around the sanctuary, where you will see local flora, native wildlife and natural habitats. Your guide will point out some of New Zealand’s rare & unique birdlife, with the chance to see Kākā, Tuatara, Tīeke/Saddleback, Wētā, Kererū and many more species.

- Please wear comfortable walking shoes, warm clothing & bring a waterproof layer

I had a wonderful morning at Zealandia. The staff were friendly and helpful and the guide was great. Very knowledgeable and showed us so many different birds and plants. I really learned so much about Wellington’s history and its unique flora and fauna. I think every tourist in Wellington should visit this amazing attraction.
